Promise Place
EducationWorks was selected by the America's Promise Alliance to be designated as a Promise Place: an institution that provides youth with the Alliance's Five Promises that help prepare them for success in school and in life. Criteria for selection included providing caring adults, safe places, a healthy start, effective education, and opportunities to help others. EW is one of 45 Promise Places in the nation, and the first in the state of Pennsylvania.

Tyra Gulley-Cherry, EW’s NJA3 Site Coordinator, was recognized by NJA3 for the creative and adaptive qualities of the 12 Step New Employee Application and Interview Process she developed.
2005 William Ross Service Award

Paula McKenley, EW Site Coordinator, was selected by the teachers and the principal at Morton Elementary school to receive this award given by the district for excellence and outstanding contribution to the school, commitment and support to students, staff and faculty.

Youth Service America
EW was one of 50 agencies chosen nationwide to enable the planning of Global Youth Service Day Philadelphia metropolitan area service learning projects for youth, addressing such issues as disaster relief, literacy, the environment, healthcare, hunger, and care for the elderly.

Tom Kim, an NSCC AmeriCorps member in Philadelphia, was named a recipient of the 2002 All AmeriCorps Common Ground Award.
