Claudia Averette

Ms. Averette is the Chief of Staff of the School District of Philadelphia, the nation's 7th largest public school district. With more than eight years with the District, she brings a rich history in developing and implementing policy and programs promoting school climate and safety, parent involvement, faith-based relations, and integrating technology into the curriculum. She oversees the Offices of Development, Labor Relations, Policy Development, and Communications, as well as General Counsel. Prior to her work with the District, Ms. Averette was the Vice President of Marketing and Communications with United Bank of Philadelphia and the Director of Community Development and Outreach with Einstein Medical Center.

Robert Barrimond

Mr. Barrimond is an Account Practice Manager with BEA systems, a world leader in enterprise infrastructure software. Previously he was a Wealth Management Analyst with Abacus Wealth Partners, LLC, a national wealth management and financial planning firm. He has wide-ranging experience in finance, software development, and information technology having worked with UBS Financial Services and Global Treasury Services-Bank of America as Financial Advisor, Hewlett Packard as Solutions Architect and Post Sales Technical Consultant, and with Lockheed Martin as an engineer.

Robert Brand

Mr. Brand is the President of Solutions for Progress, a consulting group to labor and progressive organizations on health care reform, policy, economic development, and union building. He has an extensive background in health and healthcare policy and planning with Service Employees International Union, AFL-CIO (1989-1991); National Union of Hospital and Healthcare Employees, AFL-CIO (1983 to 1989); and the City of Philadelphia Department of Public Health (1981-1983).

Darryl Bundrige

Mr. Bundrige is the Director of Extended Day Services for Foundations, Inc., managing the operations of after school and summer programs in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Mr. Bundrige was an NSCC AmeriCorps member and Team Leader in 1997 and 1998, after which he was appointed Dean of Students for the day-to-day operations of the Family Charter School in Philadelphia.

Maria Dimas

Ms. Dimas is the Chief Financial Officer for EducationWorks and serves as Board Secretary. Prior to coming to EducationWorks in 2003, she served as Finance and Human Resources Director for the United Way of Bucks County, PA for more than 15 years.

Martin Friedman

Mr. Friedman is the Executive Director and Founder of EducationWorks. At the time he was developing the National School and Community Corps, Mr. Friedman was Executive Director of the Office of Interagency Collaboration and Special Programs for the NJ Department of Higher Education. He has been on the faculty at the University of Delaware and Colgate University teaching philosophy, education, and peace studies.

Gary Ledebur

Mr. Ledebur is a consultant to education, government and health agencies, currently serving the Princeton Review, Carbon-Lehigh Intermediate Unit, and Community Education Partners. In addition to serving as the Supervisor for Special Education for the Colonial School District in Plymouth Me eting, PA, Mr. Ledebur has a long history of serving Philadelphia: he was the Director of the Mayor's Office of Social Services in Mayor Street's administration, Executive Director Governmental Relations and Executive Director Student Services and Special Education with the School District of Philadelphia, Chair of the Mayor's Children's Commission, and Board member for Philadelphia Safe and Sound and the Please Touch Museum.

Dee Spangnuolo

Ms. Spangnuolo, a Litigation Associate with Ballard Spahr Andrews and Ingersoll in Philadelphia, participates in litigation involving antitrust law, complex commercial litigation, statutory interpretation, and criminal law. She served two years in the Peace Corps in the Dominican Republic as a Community Agriculture Volunteer coordinating educational outreach, and Chair of the Women in Development Committee.

Mary Strasser

Ms. Strasser is the State Director for the Corporation for National and Community Service's Pennsylvania Office. She is responsible for public outreach and program support throughout the state and for oversight of all Pennsylvania Senior Corps and AmeriCorps VISTA projects. She was formerly the Vice President for Community Impact, United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania, guiding a network of member agencies, volunteers, and private-public partners to implement strategies focusing on the region's most pressing problems, including investing in children and youth, building adult independence, and promoting healthy living. In 1997 she was appointed Director of Philadelphia's Promise, The Alliance for Youth, and was the first Executive Director of One to One, Greater Philadelphia Mentoring Partnership.
